What better way to plan for the future than to meet and spend time with those professionals who are actually performing in the jobs students might consider one day as an occupation. Canton Middle School students were recently given this very opportunity on Career Day when thirty members from the community gave generously of their time to come and share their knowledge of what certain jobs are like day to day. Students chose three different professions and went to see demonstrations and engage in question and answer sessions about the areas of work. These professionals explained to students how relevant and beneficial school is to being successful at their job and explained about further education/training needed after high school. It was truly an eye-opening experience that will serve students well, especially as they move into high school and begin to see the necessity for education to attain those careers they envision for themselves in the near future.
