Cross Country 2016
Cross Country Tryouts will be held on Wednesday, August 24th after school. If you are interested in running cross country, there is a running club that meets twice a week that you can get involved in. They meet every Tuesday at the Canton Rec. Park Stage at 6 and run from 6-7 in Canton. On Thursdays they meet at Lake Junaluska on the grassy field across from the pool beside the tennis courts and run from 6-7.
If you have further questions regarding cross country please contact coach Jennifer Williamson
All cross country participants must meet eligibility requirements on the athletic home page, have a concussion statement & physical on file current within the past year and pay an athletic fee of $60.00 per year.
Cross-country is a two mile running race that takes place on trails and dirt paths. Of course, it would be very difficult to go out and be able to run a two-mile race without practicing and training. Throughout the season, we train to run a further distance and be able to increase our speed gradually. We participate in many activities and games that hopefully make running fun for athletes, and allow each individual to get faster as the season progresses. X-country is also a sport that provides an excellent base of conditioning for upcoming sports such as basketball, wrestling, and especially track (especially for those athletes interested in running middle to longer distances).
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email Coach Williamson.
